Do Not Go To Libya – President Buhari Warns Nigerians
President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government has warned Nigerians to stay clear of Libya over purported killing of black immigrants in the country.
The office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora has reacted to a video and pictures being circulated on the purported killing of black immigrants in Libya.
A statement by Abike Dabiri-Erewa, SSA, Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, said that while the authenticity of the pictures and tapes in question cannot be verified, it is a known fact that Libya has been executing alleged black illegal immigrants for years.
“As the Chairman Committee on Diaspora in the House of Representatives in the Seventh Assembly, we intervened in the case of 24 Nigerians about to be killed in Libya.
“The Committee, in collaboration with SERAP, an NGO, petitioned the UN, AU, ECOWAS, and Ghadaffi yielded to pressure and released them.
“As at two months ago, NEMA alongside, the Nigerian Embassy in Libya evacuated over 2000 Nigerians from Libya.
“The Nigerian embassy in Libya, working with NEMA has relentlessly intervened in cases involving Nigerians in trouble in Libya and will continue to do so.
“Libyans are dealing with their own struggles as there is no recognised government in place.
“The office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora hereby appeals again to Nigerian migrants to avoid Libya as penalty for illegal migration to Libya, when caught, is usually a death sentence.”

Why I joined APC —Nnamani
Former Senate President, Ken Nnamani, has disclosed that he joined the All Progressives Congress, APC, because the party is incumbent. Nnamani spoke even as the former governor of old Anambra State, Senator Jim Nwobodo, said he has no apology joining the APC. Nnamani and Nwobodo spoke, yesterday, at their country home, Amaechi Awkunawu, when they formerly registered as members of the APC.
Nnamani said APC is not yet the best of a political party and requires some “panel beating” but insisted that it is the best for him, at least for now. Senator Nwobodo in his account said APC cannot be complete without the prominence of the South-East, noting that Nigeria is a tripod and the South-East is one of the three legs. He said: “The problem with Nigeria is that people did things with impunity. Though it may look difficult to be in APC in Igboland but I know what to tell my people because I have never disappointed them. I never got appointment from PDP even as a founder. Looters came and drove all of us away. “I belonged to a party that brought about the death of Savanna Bank but things will change for good. I have no regret joining APC because all my progressive friends are there.”

Iggy Azalea spotted with music producer Ljay Currie in Mexico
On Saturday, Iggy Azalea hopped on a plane, leaving behind rainy LA and touching down in sunny Cabo San Lucas.
And the 26-year-old rapper was spotted enjoying the sunshine - and possibly a new beau - as she vacationed in Mexico with a group of guy friends.
According to a source for Us Weekly, the Fancy songstress couldn't keep her hands off music producer Ljay Currie all weekend.
They flew in together on a private jet for a friend's birthay. They have been all over each other with major PDA. They rented a yacht and were making out on the deck,' divulged the source.
One of Iggy's friends, Jeremy Hamilton, posted a photo of her posing with the seven-man strong gang on the deck of the yacht.
The New Classic lyricist wore a tiny red bikini, her enviable curves on full display as she gave her friend TayTay bunny ears using two fingers.
Her blonde tresses were immaculately styled into super tight plaits and she hid behind over-sized dark sunglasses.
In the photo Currie can be seen, drink in hand, with his gaze directed at Azalea.
A clip showing off the group's adventures on the yacht even revealed Iggy requesting a personal favor from Currie, asking: 'Can you spray it on my back, like on the top?'
And according to the source, Currie did not shy away from the Australian beauty's body.
5 domestic staff of Lamido, former Jigawa gov arrested over missing N100m
The Assistant Inspector-General, AIG, in charge of Police Zone 1, Kano, has detained a driver and four domestic staff of former Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, over alleged theft of N100 million. Security sources in Kano confided in Vanguard that the five suspects were taken into custody last Thursday, following “personal complaint” to the police by Alhaji Sule Lamido.
The multiple sources further revealed that the money, which was allegedly kept under “ground bunker” in the wife’s wing of the multi-billion naira apartment at NNDC Quarters of Kano, was pilfered to “insignificant amount” before it was discovered. Meanwhile, inside sources told Vanguard that the suspects have offered “useful information” on how they conspired to steal “oga’s money” and appeared ready to return what is left of the loot. The source, a high-ranking officer, who preferred anonymity, told Vanguard: “As I speak to you, we have five suspects in our custody and they have demonstrated a great deal of cooperation and we are living no stone unturned to recover the stolen money. “When contacted for comments on the veracity of the development, the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sambo Sokoto, neither denied nor confirmed the story. Sokoto told Vanguard on phone: “We have several cases at hand and most officers handling them could not be reached for briefing, and I would solicit your support to hang on till tomorrow (today). “I have equally been under pressure from your colleagues and asked to be given time to obtain proper briefing.”

FG Releases N375m for Feeding of 700,000 Pupils in Five States
The federal government has said so far, it has released over N375 million in five states for the implementation of its school feeding programme.
The Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Vice-President, Laolu Akande, made this known in a statement issued in Abuja yesterday.
Akande said the release of the amount was meant to feed almost 700,000 primary school pupils in the five states.
According to him, all states of the federation, except two, are now being processed for the payment of N30, 000 monthly stipends to 200,000 graduates, who are the N-Power beneficiaries.
Giving an update on the federal government’s Social Investment Programmes (SIP), Akande, according to The Cable, noted that the programmes were proceeding at different stages of implementation.
He revealed that last week, the government released money for the “smooth” implementation of the feeding programme in Anambra, Ogun, Oyo, Osun and Ebonyi.
“The sum of about N375, 434, 870 has just been released and paid to 7,909 cooks in those states for the feeding of a total of 677, 476 primary school pupils,” he said.
Akande said Ogun got a total of N119,648,900 paid to 1,381 cooks to feed 170, 927 pupils, while Ebonyi got N115,218,600 paid to 1,466 cooks to feed 164,598 pupils.

Akande said all monies were paid directly to the cooks and covered 10 days of school.
He also disclosed that Zamfara and Enugu States would soon be paid N188.7 million and N67.2 million, respectively, later in the week.
“In Zamfara, the sum would be paid to 2,738 cooks to feed 269,665 pupils, and in Enugu, the sum would be paid to 1,128 cooks to feed 96, 064 pupils,” he said.
Amaechi: Buhari Is Fit And Healthy
Nigerians need not worry about the health of President Muhammadu Buhari because he is fit and healthy, Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, told Arise TV yesterday in Abuja when he appeared on the global television network’s programme, Thisday Live from Abuja.
‘’Last Sunday, the president stood for one hour; and if he is not fit he would have collapsed. I do not think we should discuss president’s medical history. What are we worrying about? I will soon go for 10 days’ vacation, in which I will go for medical check-up. The rumour about his death or he is alive, is all nonsense,’’ he said.
News of purported death of the president had gone viral in rumour circles on Friday, forcing the president’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu to deny the speculation on his Twitter handle.
The president is on a 10-day vacation in London, during which he plans to undergo routine medical check-up, according to his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina.
'We're ashamed of what we did to ourselves': Twins who spent $250,000 on plastic surgery to ensure they were 'identical' reveal they 'regret it all'
Twins Anna and Lucy DeCinque entered the public eye after spending nearly $250,000 on plastic surgery to make themselves look identical.
The Perth women have had lip fillers and breast implants as well as tattooed eyebrows and eyeliner.
They've also spent money on IPL, laser treatments and microdermabrasion, in an attempt to remain blemish free.
But now, New Idea reports that they 'regret it all' with the DeCinque twins telling the magazine they are working towards returning to a 'more natural and healthy' look.
'What we thought was pretty... we find ugly now,' they explained.
The pair have been taking antidepressants to combat their body dysmorphia and are working to correct the situation and hoping to regain their original looks.
Despite their reluctance to indulge in any further surgery, the 31-year-old twins still stick to their extensive skincare regime.
It includes face masks, leg masks, body scrubs and body brushes. Their shared boyfriend Ben joked he could 'read a novel' in the time it took them to complete just their night time skincare routine.
The women also admit while they've accepted their diagnosis, some habits are harder to break than others.
'We look for flaws in each other every day,' Lucy told the magazine, noting if one of them has so much as a pimple, neither of the twins will leave the house.
Looking back, neither Anna or Lucy feel positive about their plastic surgery choices.
'We're ashamed about what we did to ourselves, but we're owning it and embracing our diagnosis,' Lucy said.
Suspected Fulani bandits attack travellers on Lagos-Ibadan expressway
Scores of commuters and motorists had raw deals at the hands of armed bandits suspected to be of Fulani extraction on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway yesterday afternoon. Many of them lost valuables and sustained injuries in two coordinated attacks by the robbers on the highway.
The daylight attacks took place at two spots before and after the old Ogere toll plaza and they involved the robbers sneaking out of the surrounding bushes to take advantage of the bad portions of the road to rob the victims.
The spokesman of the Ogun State Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), who confirmed that some of the bandits were indeed Fulani, told The Guardian that one of them was eventually killed during an exchange of gunfire with the police.
About 20 robbers with blackened faces, who betrayed their identities by their accent while asking their victims to cooperate with them by surrendering their valuables, carried out the attacks.
A reporter of The Guardian who was a victim of the robbery said the bandits first laid ambush just before Ode-Remo intersection and had succeeded in robbing commuters in about six buses, mainly women suspected to be Lagos-bound traders, of their cash and other valuables.
When other Lagos-bound vehicles got a hint of the robbery, several of them, including about 20 articulated vehicles that were said to be prime targets of the robbers because of the likelihood of cash on them, parked along the route waiting for the road to clear.
A team of armed mobile policemen in a Hilux van with registration number PF 943 SPY that arrived at the scene however cleared the road leading other vehicles and shooting into the air to drive the bandits away.
Many of the victims of the first set of bandits were seen mourning their losses while the women among them rolled on a ground littered with empty bags and wallets but nobody, even the policemen, had the courage to stop and help them to safety as the robbers were seen escaping into the bush.
The bandits were to regroup about 20 kilometers ahead, just after Ogere. Brandishing guns, machetes and knives, the bandits appeared from the bush and stood in the middle of the road and ordered the confused drivers and their passengers to disembark and surrender their possessions.
Many of the commercial bus drivers while attempting to reverse, to escape from the robbery scene hit other vehicles, creating a jam and blocking their escape. One after the other, the passengers, including The Guardian reporter, made a dash for their lives.
Those who could not escape were robbed and many of them were dealt machete blows for not having enough cash. The robbers smashed the windscreens of three buses, a Toyota Venza and a Toyota Corolla, after they had been ransacked stealing handsets, computer laptops and other valuables left by the fleeing owners.
Moments later, a team of policemen arrived at the scene and according to Oyeyemi, they were able to kill one of the robbers during a gunbattle.
The police spokesman said the police were still combing the bushes for the escaped robbers as at 6: 00 p.m. yesterday.
How Tinubu’s plane helped remove Jammeh
INDICATIONS have emerged that a plane belonging to the National Leader of All Progressives Congress ,APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was used to fly ex-Gambian President, Mr. Yahaya Jammeh out of the country.
The gesture was in furtherance of the reconciliatory efforts of the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, in the country where Jammeh’s refusal to relinquish power led to political crisis.
It was learnt that upon being contacted for the use of the aircraft, Tinubu, who was in Conakry at that time, agreed on condition that it should only be used for the purpose in order to restore peace and democracy in the country. The VP-CBT Falcon jet, which had been with Guinean President, Alpa Conde for days, was stationed in Banjul to ferry Jammeh out of the country after 22 years in power.
We further gathered that Tinubu is a personal friend of President Conde. Conde and Mauritania’s President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz had spent much of Friday in Banjul persuading Jammeh to leave power. A BBC report on Saturday at 10.30 pm said the plane had taken off for Guinea with Jammeh, his family and President Conde on board. The former Gambian leader was flown to Conakry where he would temporarily stay before leaving for Equatorial Guinea where he would live in exile. West African leaders did not agree to immunity for Jammeh during negotiations that convinced Gambia’s longtime ruler to flee into exile, Senegal’s foreign minister said on Sunday. Jammeh, who is accused of serious rights violations, led his country for 22 years but refused to accept defeat in a December election. He flew out of the capital Banjul late on Saturday as a regional military force was poised to remove him.
