Joke speaks on what makes her husband uncomfortable.

Veteran Nollywood actress Joke Silva reveals how acting love scenes makes her husband uncomfortable

Olu Jacob and Joke Silva are one of the oldest couples in Nollywood industry. The gorgeous couple walked down the aisle in 1981 and decades later their marriage is waxing strong.
Understandably no one wants to see their spouse kissing another person, even if it's part of their profession. In a recent interview, veteran actress Joke Silva said her husband and fellow actor, Olu Jacobs is uncomfortable watching her film love scenes.
"In the very early years of Nollywood," she says, "there was a film I featured in titled The Golden Cage. My love interest in that film was Yomi Layinka. We have a kissing scene in that movie and my husband was the associate director on the film."
Olu Jacobs may have been the associate director of that movie and well aware of the scene, but he wasn't too comfortable with it.
"When it comes to the kissing scene, he gets so uncomfortable. At the end of the day, we ended up breaking some stuff."
Nice to see this little incident didn't break their marriage!

Russia hacking: Putin 'ordered campaign of influence' in US election

Vladimir Putin ordered a campaign to influence the US presidential election, according to a newly declassified report by American spy chiefs.
The Russian leader and his government "aspired to help" Donald Trump's chances of winning by discrediting his rival Hillary Clinton, it is claimed.
Mr Trump unexpectedly beat Mrs Clinton in the election, but he has been sceptical of accusations that Moscow was behind a hacking campaign that sought to boost his chances.
The report from the director of national intelligence, James Clapper, said: "We assess Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered an influence campaign in 2016 aimed at the US presidential election.
"Russia's goals were to undermine public faith in the US democratic process, denigrate Secretary Clinton, and harm her electability and potential presidency."
It made clear the Russian government had developed a "clear preference for President-elect Donald Trump".
Mr Putin most likely wanted to discredit Mrs Clinton because he blames her for inciting protests against his regime in late 2011 and early 2012, and because he resents her for disparaging comments she has made about him, the report said.
The report said Russian intelligence accessed "elements" of multiple state and local electoral boards, but "the systems targeted or compromised were not involved in counting votes".
US intelligence agencies also believe Moscow hacked into the emails of the Democratic National Committee and Mrs Clinton's campaign team and fed the material to WikiLeaks.
But the report claimed there were also targets associated with the Republican party.
Before he met spy chiefs for a briefing on the report on Friday, the President-elect dismissed the controversy as a "political witch-hunt".
Later, he said he had "constructive talks" with them and vowed to crack down on hacking.
He said he would appoint a team to "aggressively combat and stop cyber attacks" by coming up with a plan within 90 days of him taking office on 20 January.
The President-elect said any hacking during the election campaign had no effect on the result and voting machines were not tampered with.
He said of the intelligence officials: "I have tremendous respect for the work and service done by the men and women of this community to our great nation."
He went on: "While Russia, China, other countries, outside groups and people are consistently trying to break through the cyber infrastructure of our governmental institutions, businesses and organisations including the Democrat National Committee, there was absolutely no effect on the outcome of the election."
He also claimed there were unsuccessful attempts to hack into the Republican National Committee.
Russia has denied the US government's hacking claims.
President Barack Obama last week imposed fresh sanctions on Moscow and expelled dozens of diplomats in retaliation.
Meanwhile, Vice President Joe Biden has told Mr Trump to "grow up" as he criticised his "absolutely mindless" attacks on intelligence agencies.
The row between Mr Trump and his spy chiefs "leaves us in a very dark place", according to the former National Security Agency and CIA director, General Michael Hayden.
He told Sky News that intelligence officials made a "high confidence judgement and he (Trump) said 'take a hike'. Wow".
Gen Hayden added: "That is going to reverberate throughout the community."

UK ends millions in funding for 'Ethiopia's Spice Girls'

Ministers have ended millions of pounds in funding for a five-member female band dubbed Ethiopia's Spice Girls.
Yegna, which aims to enhance the role of women through music and performance, was reportedly promised £5.2m of taxpayer's money to develop a radio drama.
Following criticism over the amount of money being granted to them, the Department for International Development (DfID) confirmed that the partnership has now ended.
A DfID spokeswoman said: "Empowering women and girls around the world remains a priority, but we judge there are more effective ways to invest UK aid and to deliver even better results for the world's poorest and value for taxpayers' money."
Responding to the decision, the Girl Effect project that launched Yegna and promotes women's rights in Ethiopia said that "new ideas are often resisted and sometimes willfully misrepresented".
In December, International Development Secretary Priti Patel was challenged about the project when she appeared before the Commons International Development Select Committee.
At the time she said the Yegna grant was simply "one component" in a wider programme promoting the rights and well-being of women and girls in the country.
"UK aid in Ethiopia is combating forced child marriage, violence, teen pregnancies - all those really, really big, substantial issues," she said.
"We are doing a range of work there. That is just one programme, one project. It is actually doing substantial work combating the issues that I've highlighted. But at the same time all programmes are under review."

Protests as Congress approves Donald Trump's victory

Protesters have disrupted the formal process of Donald Trump being approved as US President.
It came as Congress certified the Electoral College vote that gave him victory in the election.
During proceedings, Maxine Waters, the US Representative of California's 43rd congressional district, shouted: "I do not wish to debate, I wish to ask: Is there not one US senator who will join me in this objection?"
Vice President Joe Biden had to reject repeated objections by Democrats to the official declaration, as well as deal with protesters at the congressional ceremony.
Mr Biden made several calls to the sergeant-at-arms to expel the protesters as he tried to read out the results of November's vote.
Mr Trump got 304 electoral votes, compared with the 227 won by his Democratic challenger, Hillary Clinton, according to the vote tally.
The electoral votes were opened before a joint session of Congress in what is a formality for most elections.
Members of the House of Representatives objected to the electoral tally in states including Alabama, Florida, Michigan, Texas, Mississippi and the Carolinas.
Some members complained about long lines at polling stations while others highlighted concerns over Russian attempts to influence the result in Mr Trump's favour.
"I object because people are horrified by the overwhelming evidence of Russian interference in our election," said Representative Barbara Lee of California, before being overruled.
Mr Biden denied each of the objections and said: "It is over."
None of the representatives had the backing of a senator, which would have allowed them to suspend the joint session and allow the House and Senate to meet separately to debate the objections.
Mr Trump, who will take office on 20 January, won the vital Electoral College vote that decides the winner, but Mrs Clinton won more votes overall.

Five killed in Fort Lauderdale airport shooting

A US army veteran who said the government was controlling his mind has shot dead five people at Fort Lauderdale airport in Florida.
Authorities have identified the suspected shooter as Esteban Santiago, 26, from Anchorage, Alaska.
Santiago served in Iraq with the National Guard before being demoted and discharged last year for poor performance.
His brother said he had recently been getting psychological treatment.
The Associated Press reported a law enforcement official saying that Santiago had walked into the FBI office in Anchorage in November to say that the US government was controlling his mind and making him watch Islamic State videos.
Santiago had been questioned by agents before police took him for a mental health evaluation but the official said that he had not seemed intent on hurting anyone.
On Friday he had arrived at Ft Lauderdale just before 1pm local time (6pm UK time) on a flight from Alaska.
Reportedly dressed in a Star Wars t-shirt, he took a 9mm semi-automatic handgun from his checked luggage and began firing on people.
On Facebook, Broward County commissioner Chip LaMarca wrote the suspect had been carrying a gun in his luggage, adding: "He claimed his bag and took the gun from baggage and went into the bathroom to load it. Came out shooting people in baggage claim."

Ari Fleischer, a former White House press secretary, said he was at the airport and "everyone was running" when shots were fired.
Mark Lea told MSNBC: "He just kind of continued coming in, just randomly shooting at people, no rhyme or reason to it."

As well as the five dead, eight others were injured.
Santiago was taken away by police after throwing his gun down and lying spread-eagle on the ground, according to a witness.
Sheriff Scott Israel told a news conference that it was uncertain whether the shooting was an act of terror, and the suspect is now being interviewed by FBI agents and detectives.
Florida governor Rick Scott told reporters the shooting was "a senseless act of evil".
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport was closed indefinitely.
Flying with guns in the US is legal as long as they are kept in a locked hard-sided container as checked baggage only, under TSA rules. Ammunition is not allowed in cabin baggage but is allowed in checked baggage.

Aisha Buhari Denies Bleeding Nigerian High Commission in London

The President’s wife, Mrs. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari has denied report that the Nigerian High Commission spent excess money on her and her entourage when she travelled to London.

In a statement by her Special Assistant on Media, Adebisi Olumide Ajayi, Mrs. Buhari dismissed a report that said she connived with some top government officials to fleece the Nigerian High Commission in London whenever she traveled to London.
She described the report, which accused her of abuse of privileges at the Nigerian High Commission in London, as a travesty of investigative journalism.
An online news portal, Sahara Reporters, had last Thursday reported that Mrs. Buhari visited the UK at least seven times last year and that each time she travelled there, the High Commission spent a minimum of £7,000 on her hospitality.
But Mrs. Buhari denied ever travelling to London with a large entourage as was reported, saying the highest number of people on a trip were her three kids, ADC and her personal physician.
The president’s wife also said the Nigerian commission in London had never offered any favour either “monetarily or materially” to her or her so-called entourage on any of her trips to the UK.
The statement reads: “It is on record that the Nigerian Commission in London does not receive Aisha Buhari at the airport with any official distinction or privileges as was accorded other first ladies before her. “Her drivers are privately arranged without any recourse to the embassy for staff. She has never complained or raised dust about any of these acts by the High Commission because of the understanding, as clearly spelt out and practised by her husband that public office must be separated from the private lives of the occupants.
“She has always been an advocate of good governance where officials of government are responsive and appealing to their constituents. It therefore baffles the imagination that one could believe she would corroborate with any government official however highly placed either at home or abroad to short-change the Nigerian people.
“These records are not hidden for a non-mischievous reporter who really intends to inform the people and not to disparage the family of the President just to add weight to a report.
Mrs. Buhari also said that the State House in Abuja took care of her meal only when necessary.
According to her, the State House in Abuja caters for her meal when necessary, and other healthy food or variety needed by her children are her personal responsibility.

Son Hacks Octogenarian Father to Death in Ondo

An undergraduate, Olusoji Thompson has been detained at the homicide section of the Ondo State Police Command for allegedly killing his octogenarian father.
The deceased, Chief Clifford Olumekun, 86, was allegedly hacked to death on January 2, 2017 with an axe by his son at his residence located at No 1, Okeraye Street, Idepe in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The suspect, according to a source, was handed over to the police after he allegedly confessed to the dastardly act after the family had consulted the oracle to expose the killer.
A source narrated that immediately after killing his father, the suspect allegedly parked the deceased’s lifeless body, wrapped it with a cloth and cleaned the blood stains in the room so as not to douse suspicion that he (deceased) was murdered.
The suspect was alleged to have fled the town immediately after he committed the crime. “When the family members got into the room they noticed the blood stains that were carelessly cleaned on the floor of the room. “They also found out that blood stains that were supposed to be on the deceased’s body had been carefully cleaned and his corpse was wrapped in a big cloth as if he died naturally,” he said.
The source added that the family immediately consulted the oracle to expose the killer but the suspect who had earlier fled the town showed up and confessed to the crime. He was later handed over to the police.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Femi Joseph, who disclosed that the suspect was now being detained, said investigation would be conducted on the incident.
Joseph said the reason for the boy’s dastardly act was not known as at the time of this report.
“The incident happened on January 2, 2017 and we have arrested the suspect. We are still interrogating him to know why he carried out such an act,” he said.

AGF Meets Buhari Behind Closed-Door, May Have Submitted Report on Magu, Babachir

President Muhammadu Buhari may have received the report of the probe on the alleged corrupt practices levelled against the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Lawal Babachir and the Actig Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, Ibrahim Magu. The Minister of Justice and Attorney of the Federation, AGF, Mr. Abubakar Malami who was ordered to investigate the duo was seen at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Friday where he met with the president.
The president had on December 18, 2016 directed the AGF to initiate a probe on Babachir and Magu who were alleged to have soiled their fingers in acts of corruption by the Nigerian Senate.
While Babachir was accused of tampering with the funds meant for the welfare of the Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs in the north east, Magu was indicted by a report from the Department of the State Service, DSS that he lived in a house rented under fraudulent circumstances and also flouted a presidential order by flying first class to Saudi Arabia.
Malami who met with president Buhari behind closed doors did not speak with State House Correspondents after the meeting.
