Buhari's London Photo Is Old, Nigerians React

A cross section of Nigerians have continued to comment on the pictures of President Muhammadu Buhari, who is currently on a 10-day working leave in London, UK.

The new picture, which was posted on Friday night, showed the president in a relaxed mood with some of his visitors, including Gov. Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun.

Others in the picture are some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Some of the comments on the sudden emergence of the picture include: “Despite all attempts to debunk the rumours, the wicked mischief makers have continued to spread their falsehood about President Buhari.

Mr Kingsley Nwaeze, a social commentator, condemned those spreading dangerous rumours about the president’s health conditions.

He said on his twitter post: “My dear don’t mind the fools. They are the enemies of this country and we shall overcome them. I stand with my President.

“Imagine the stupidity of some people to wish death for a president of their country. How callous?

Mr Usman Mohammed Ismail in his post said: “Have you heard about the guy that wrote R.I.P on Buhari’s Photo on twitter?

“The Guy was arrested and taken to court and the Judge asked him what he meant by R.I.P? The Guys says he meant REMAIN IN POWER’’.

Buhari, who left Nigeria on Jan. 19, is scheduled to return home on Feb. 6.

Trump Orders Suspension of All Refugees, Immigrants From Some Muslim Nations

President Donald Trump made good on his campaign promises for "extreme vetting" Friday afternoon, signing an executive memorandum that makes sweeping changes to U.S. refugee and immigration policy the White House says is designed to protect the nation from terrorists who want to enter the country.

The seven-page document calls for an immediate suspension of immigration from countries with ties to terror, including Syria, Yemen, Sudan, Somalia, Iraq, Iran and Libya, for a time period of 90 days. It also calls for the complete suspension of Syrian refugees for an indefinite period.

In both cases, the executive order says admissions from these regions are "detrimental to the United States."

The order also calls on the secretary of state to suspend the entire Refugee Admissions Program (meaning all countries) for 120 days while authorities review the application and adjudication process.

President Trump signed the order, called "Protecting the Nation From Foreign Terrorist Entry Into the United States," Friday afternoon after an official swearing-in ceremony for his new secretary of defense, James Mattis.

The order also calls for limiting the overall number of refugees admitted to the U.S. to 50,000 people in 2017. Last fiscal year, the Obama White House admitted close to 85,000 refugees, over 12,500 of them from Syria.

In addition, the order also calls for prioritizing refugee entry on the basis of "religious-based persecution" so long as the religion is a minority in the country of the person seeking refuge. That language appears to be directed in part at Syrian Christians, a group Trump has signaled out as a priority. To that effect, the order says that exceptions to the immigration and refugee policies outlined in the document can be made on a case-by-case basis.

Reaction from around the world was swift. The refugee advocacy group The International Refugee Assistance Project called Friday announcement a "betrayal of the fundamentally American value of welcoming those who are fleeing persecution."

Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani human rights advocate and Nobel Prize recipient, said in a statement Friday that she is "heartbroken" by the decisions.

"I am heartbroken that today President Trump is closing the door on children, mothers and fathers fleeing violence and war," Yousafzai wrote in a Facebook post. "I am heartbroken that America is turning its back on a proud history of welcoming refugees and immigrants -- the people who helped build your country, ready to work hard in exchange for a fair chance at a new life. I am heartbroken that Syrian refugee children, who have suffered through six years of war by no fault of their own, are singled out for discrimination."

President Trump spoke at the Pentagon Friday about the executive order.

"I’m establishing new vetting measures to keep radical Islamic terrorists out of the United States of America. We don’t want them here," Trump said. "We only want to admit those into our country who will support our country and love deeply our people."

In anticipation of the order, more than 2,000 religious leaders from across the country signed a letter to President Trump in opposition to any policy change that would bar refugees based on their religion or nationality. The letter called for keeping the U.S. Refugee Resettlement Program "open to those of all nationalities and religions who face persecution on account of the reasons enumerated under U.S. law."

"We oppose any policy change that would prevent refugees from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen, or individuals who practice Islam and other faiths from accessing the U.S. Refugee Resettlement Program," said the letter.

The International Rescue Committee (IRC), which responds to humanitarian disasters around the world, said that Trump's suspension of the U.S. resettlement program was a “harmful and hasty” decision. The organization, which provides aid to refugees around the world, said in a statement that the impact would be felt by mostly women and children awaiting resettlement.

"In truth, refugees are fleeing terror -- they are not terrorists,” said IRC President and CEO David Miliband. “And at a time when there are more refugees than ever, America must remain true to its core values. America must remain a beacon of hope."

Arsenal Coach, Arsene Wenger Gets 4-match Ban

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been given a four-match touchline ban and £25,000 fine after accepting a Football Association charge of misconduct for his behaviour in the win over Burnley.

Wenger, 67, was charged with verbally abusing and pushing fourth official Anthony Taylor after being sent off.

He misses Saturday's FA Cup tie against Southampton and Premier League games against Watford, Chelsea and Hull.

Wenger will be back for the Premier League trip to Liverpool on 4 March.

The Frenchman reacted angrily to Burnley being awarded a 93rd-minute penalty at Emirates Stadium on Sunday, one they scored to level at 1-1.

After being sent to the stands by referee Jon Moss, Wenger moved away from the pitch but stood at the tunnel entrance and refused to move as he tried to watch the remaining few minutes of Sunday's match.

As Taylor encouraged him to move away, Wenger was seen to push back against him.

Arsenal were then given a penalty of their own, which was converted by Alexis Sanchez.

Immediately after the match, Wenger apologised, saying: "I should have shut up - I apologise for not having done that.

"It was nothing malicious. I should have kept my control, even if it was in a hectic time

There is a Phone booth in Japan where people call the dead

A white telephone booth with glass panels. The phone booth, which only has a disconnected rotary phone inside, has become a popular destination for residents who are still dealing with grief. It sits atop a grassy hill in Otsuchi, overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Otsuchi is a town that was eradicated in the disaster. The entire area caved in within 30 minutes and 10 percent of the town’s population was killed.

But one year before the disaster, Itaru Sasaki installed the phone booth in his garden to help himself move past the death of his cousin. “Because my thoughts couldn’t be relayed over a regular phone line,” Sasaki told This American Life in September. “I wanted them to be carried on the wind.”

The booth has since become the “wind phone” and has become a sort of pilgrimage for those dealing with the death of a loved one. In the three years after the disaster, the booth received over 10,000 visitors, according to local reports.

Some come to make one special phone call. Others are regular visitors who dial up deceased loved ones and fill them in.

In the years since it became a pilgrimage point, the wind phone has been the center of both a TV documentary and a NPR special report.

Otsuchi is accessible from Tokyo by either high-speed rail or a seven-hour car ride. The phone booth is located on a hill just outside of the city.

Theresa May has arrived in Washington ahead of crunch trade talks with President Trump

UK prime minister  Theresa may arrived in Washington last night ahead of crunch trade talks with Donald Trump that will help shape the way Britain and America co-operate in the post-Brexit world.

The pair will attempt to sweep aside as many trade barriers as they can ahead of Britain leaving the EU when they meet this evening UK time at the White House.

The Prime Minister will also attempt to secure Mr Trump's commitment to supporting NATO after earlier calling it 'the cornerstone of the West's defence'.

Officially the UK cannot engage in formal negotiations on its own free trade deals with third countries while it remains a member of the EU.

But yesterday Mrs May told senior US politicians: 'I think there is much we can do in the interim in terms of looking at how we can remove some of the barriers to trade in a number of areas, so we are able to see an advantage to both of us even if we haven't been able to sign that legal free trade agreement.'

In the same speech in Pennsylvania, Mrs May ripped up two decades of 'failed' liberal interventionist foreign policy that has dragged Britain into a string of disastrous conflicts.

And in a decisive break with the Blair and Cameron eras, the Prime Minister said the days of the UK using military force to 'remake sovereign countries in our own image' were finished.

Speaking to a gathering of top Republicans, she laid out a new set of rules which will see the UK intervene only when the 'threat is real' and it is in our own interests.

Is anointing an STD in Nigeria?’, controversial OAP Freeze, who is fond of attacking Nigerian pastors and their glamorous lifestyles, took to his Instagram to attack Christians, urging them to desist from listening to ‘Yahoo Boy pastors’ and return to the teaching of Christ.
He wrote: ‘Good morning sheeple , another unanswered question… The deceit MUST end!
‘I’m not sure we have any Christians left in Pentecostal Nigeria. We have people who worship a religion that believes in Christ but we do not practice Christianity; how can we, when our lives are a total departure from his teachings?
‘Where did Peter, Paul, Silas, Timothy, Andrew, Luke and John keep their wives when they were doing ministry? Or is this Mummy GO the new STD in that prophesy?
‘Nigerian Christians, please let’s return to the teaching of Christ and stop listening to these Yahoo boy pastors! ~FRZ.’
