A 22-year-old man, Chioke Thomas, who allegedly stole two cartons of crayfish worth N160,000 was, yesterday, brought before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrate’s Court, Lagos.
The accused is facing a charge of stealing. The prosecutor, Sergeant Maria Dauda, told the court that the accused committed the offence on January 3, at Oyingbo Ultra-Modern Market in Ebute Meta. Dauda said that the accused stole two cartons of crayfish valued at N160,000 belonging to one Bright Chimezie. The offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. Thomas pleaded not guilty to the charge. The magistrate, Mrs O. O. A. Fowowe-Erusiafe, granted the accused N50,000 bail, with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case to February 14 for mention.
